The Center for Families in Transition (CFIT)
was founded in 1991 by Katherine Norton Warren and was originally located in Bethesda, Maryland.
In 2006 the Center moved to downtown Silver
Spring. Ellen
Schaefer-Salins is the current director.
The Center for Families in Transition:
- Is
a private practice providing mental health services to individuals, couples,
and families;
- Serves all
people with mental health needs;
- Accepts a variety of health
insurances;
- Has a special
program for working with people who are Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing. Several therapists are fluent in sign
language;
- Has therapists at our location that are fluent in
Spanish and Portuguese;
- Houses other
wonderful programs such as Career Catchers; and
- Uses a variety of therapy approaches and techniques including sand
tray therapy.
