Deaf Services

Affiliated with CFIT since 2002, Dr. Mounty provides individual and family treatment via a variety of modalities as well as educational consultation.

She is also affiliated with Gallaudet University. She holds a doctorate in applied psycholinguistics from Boston University and master’s degrees in and social work from Gallaudet University and deaf education from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Mounty has worked from an interdisciplinary perspective in educational and human service positions for more than 30 years. Her clinical, scholarly and research interests include: adoption, bilingual language development and use in the deaf and hard of hearing population, the impact of various kinds of trauma as well as language deprivation on psychosocial development and mental health across the life span, and educating multidisciplinary professional audiences about Deaf culture, the Deaf community, and the unique experiences and needs of deaf and hard of hearing individuals.
